Peter Ablinger:
TV-PIECE
from: "Instruments &"

für Instrument/e und Fernseher (2014, released 2021)

tv-piece

TV-Piece, Score:

The audience is looking TV.
(Different options of set-up for different kinds and sizes of audience.) The image is well visible but there is no sound from the TV. The performer(s) has(have) headphones in which they hear the TV-sound. The goal is to imitate (and replace) the TV-sound as rich as possible with intruments.

The TV-image comes along with a delay of (e.g.) 0,7 seconds, while the sound in the headphone arrives without delay.

Zapping through channels during performance could be (but doesn't have to be) an option. (In case, maybe an additional performer does the zapping.)

Another option could be to work with pre-recorded TV-material (zapping through channels, or choosing something specific). This would give the possibility to rehearse with the recorded material. Delay between sound and image should be still usefull for some synchronizity.

The instrumentalist(s) shouldn't be totaly invisible but might somehow stay in the dark or behind the screen.
